Anyone in IT who knows what they are doing NEVER uses MS in a sensitive or critical part of a network.

Blame Russians?

I tend to believe this Cozy Bear story that Crowdstrike told during the so-called DNC ‘hack’ a few years back.

And since then we are learning ...

Cozy Bear = CIA

But let’s all hold hands and shout “Russia! Russia! Russia!”

I thought Russia was going to hack the 2020 election.

You know, for President Trump.

Right, Democrats?

They must have a hard time keeping whatever lie going.

What’s the proof it was Russian hackers? Did they go through a VPN set to exit in Russia? No hacker would NOT use a VPN, and a hacker would NEVER use an exit server in his actual country. So that can’t be it.

So what is the proof? Did someone copy paste into a MS Word template with the language set to Crylic? That’s all the “proof” they had about “Russia hacked the DNC.”

Russians first breached Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. Sad to say, it seems that no one ever cared.

I am so glad we have Office 365 and Teams etc from Microsoft. All our data is secure....
I logged into my Amazon account today using my personal outlook.com webmail address and noticed the image file I use at work in Oracle production that I only recently added, pop up in the logon screen.
Once a hacker gets into microsoft or oracle or any company doing business that is interconnected with Facebook, Twitter etc with other companies then all your information is compromised. Below is a popup from today from the Kaspersky anti-virus program I am trying out. My Webroot never pops up things like this.

SolarWinds and Dominion

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-fireeye-confirm-solarwinds-supply-chain-attack/

https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2020/12/evasive-attacker-leverages-solarwinds-supply-chain-compromises-with-sunburst-backdoor.html

A March 24, 2020 hack initially corrupted a Solarwinds file (SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.dll), after which, that corrupted Solarwinds file had/has been installed on various Windows OS based machines as a part of routine patching / updating.

The hacked file hatches, you might say, Supported' hack commands that find certain files and deletes those certain files.

Meanwhile, various files that provide information about the computer affected, are collected, compressed, encoded, and then sent to servers in Virginia, Seattle, WA, Finland, and the ISP Windstream Communications in the USA.

The hack tries to hide its tracks, including some subterfuge with the Windows Registry, and then force a reboot of the Windows OS based machine.

It is a cover-up.

With a lingering problem, that the affected Windows OS based computer, is well-known to the hacker.

The hacker is unknown.
