The Washington Post recently announced that it’s adding more than 150 new jobs to its newsroom, bringing the total number to more than 1,000, the largest staff in the paper’s nearly 150-year history. In the wake of recent layoffs at Vox, Vice, BuzzFeed, Gannett, and the Los Angeles Times, does the Post’s good news signal a turnaround for a media industry that was anticipating more belt-tightening measures in the post-Trump era? No, it just means owner Jeff Bezos is making a run at the paper’s main rival The New York Times.
But neither are competing to own the market on hard-hitting reporting and sharp opinion, for they are unlikely to cover a Joe Biden administration any more critically than they reported on Barack Obama’s two terms. That metric is especially relevant after Obama all but admitted recently to television celebrity Stephen Colbert that Biden is simply an avatar for his third term. And that’s where Bezos sees an opportunity.
The Post is positioning itself to become the main warehouse for collection and distribution of communications shaped to advance the networked interests of big tech, media and social media, government agencies, and progressive political operatives. In other words, the Post is transitioning from media organization to intelligence operation. By staffing up to help push an agenda completing Obama’s long-envisioned transformation of America, Congress’s hometown paper is outgunning the competition to win the role of official state media.

I tried lining my birds cage with the Washington Post and he immediately died.
There. Fixed it.
I think their official title should be “ministry of propaganda”
When I first moved to Maryland in the late 80’s I got the Washington Post.
One day walked to the end of my driveway to get my copy from the box and a neighbor, who was walking his dog, said why are you subscribing to Pravda on the Potomac?
A few weeks later I start subscribing to the Washington Times.
I was shocked at the difference.
Then about 5 years later I saw a media that dragged Clarence Thomas through the coals, give Clinton, the rapist, a pass.
Luckily I had already landed here to get my news. Think I found Free Republic when it was on Prodigy.

It’s only gotten worse under Jeff Bezos. I wonder where the money for these new positions is coming from. Is the Washington Post awash in new subscriptions? Or is Jeff Bezos willing to provide even more funding for the Washington Post for reasons outside of it’s own profit or loss?
Is China paying them?
My brain is starting to get conspiratorial.
Think now some of us are starting to stoop pretty low. Are they thinkin “screw morality?”
I vote yes.
I think he and other Big Tech boys are bankrolling it. It is no longer a business depending on its own revenue.
Jeff Bezos has so much money that he is just using the WaPo for propaganda. We should never again refer to WaPo, etc, as the mainstream media. We Trump supporters are the mainstream. WAPo etc are the extreme left, the Marxists.
I learned the difference between the Post and the Times listening to G. Gordon Liddy’s radio show. He would read from the W. Times regularly.
HUUUUMMPPHH!
Washington Compost not fit to line the bottom of my bird cage!
Well, they’re already the official leaks publisher for the FBI,they may as well speak for all of the deep state.
