So what is your point? Are there millions more people die in 2020 than in 2019? Are millions more projected to die in 2020 than in 2019? If Cuomo had not placed covid patients in nursing homes would all those who contracted covid in nursing home died anyway in 2020? Not asking for a friend.

I gave my point and I'll give it again: there are more premature deaths this year. In some cases only premature by months. To answer your last question: maybe, but probably in 2021. We'll chat again a year from now. What we will be talking about is how many fewer deaths there were in 2021 compared to average. That means the 93 year old friend of my family would have died in 2021 but died in 2020 from COVID.

The science calls it "displacement". The deaths are offset in following months or years by fewer deaths.

And they probably intubated him once he went in and you can guess the rest.

Yep. Heart stopped while being intubated.

Yet you seem super afraid of covid, implying that it’s ultra dangerous when it just isn’t for most people.

Hear! Hear! Give this Freeper another drink and allow him to preach to the choir again!

Seriously I am in total agreement with you! I think we are going down this rabbit hole; indeed we may have to. How shall we organize ourselves?

No way of knowing that about his heart for certain. Many late 35 to 50 somethings with early heart disease show no symptoms but can die suddenly with an MI due to their being no developed collateral circulation in their hearts. That’s why a 75 year old may have a large MI and survive it while a 41 year old promising congressman elect with unknown plaque and cholesterol issues may pass away with the same thing. Having Covid19 certainly didn’t help the poor fellow.

I’m not afraid of covid at all. What I take exception to is those who say it doesn’t make anyone sick or that going healthy people don’t die of it. that would be wrong.

Going back to April, I’ve questioned:
• shutting down the economy
• quarantining the healthy
• misinformation and disinformation from authorities (Fauci, et. al.,)
• how the coronavirus is characterised (dying ‘of’ vs. dying ‘with’, etc.)
• follow-on abuses on our liberties and livelihoods by law enforcement (arresting the law-abiding for infractions while letting rioters run riot)
• abuses on the election system via mail-in balloting over rona fears

Not sure how I got roped into your rant, but I trust and believe less and less anything I am told that relates to Covid-19. I wear my maks when the state says I must (business, necessities, interacting with strangers) and I don’t when I don’t have to. I sure as heck don’t wear it when I’m alone in my car or walking around outside.

The rona is real but can be dealt with. The hysteria around it is mostly manufactured, IMO. The abuses perpetrated as a result of the hysteria are certainly real.

If I get the rona but can breath on my own, I don’t want to be intubated! :-)

I copied you because I copied as many on this thread as I could because I saw a fundamental disagreement on the real issue and nature of the discussion of this subject, which I believe is a lack of a value judgment made by those in power to the issue which arose for us as a nation last February.

Do you really see my post as a “rant”? The definition of a “rant” is “to speak, write or shout in a loud, uncontrolled, or angry way, often saying confused or silly things”

I hope you don’t. My very point was to bring up things in a rational manner. If you took exception to my including you in this “ping” (there is no ping list on this) I offer my apology.

I do wear a mask (I must because I work in health care) and to that with little complaint because even if it saves one life in 100,000, I will do it. I also wear it going into establishments that request it. I do this out of consideration for the emotions of other people who may be under that thrall of an emotional response, and because I don’t want to make life difficult for the employees who may feel forced by their employer to be the mask police.

I don’t want to put them in that situation. They are just trying to make a living.

But I refuse to wear a mask outside, to the consternation of my wife. I simply will not do it. It is things like that which I rebel against, and if they make it mandatory with penalties of fines or jail, I will refuse to comply.

If they must, they will be required to fine or jail me.

some young people with no comorbidity get very ill and die from this disease. More than you would think

Yes, a relative of mine about the congressman's age has faced a long drawn-out battle with recurring covid bouts, for a few months now...healthy prior to the covid onset.

OK. Let’s look at death rates per million. Let’s use counties rather than states, because counties are more homogenous in terms of behavior and population density.

The San Francisco Bay Area is home to a huge population of Chinese nationals, dual nationals, and techies with business connection to China. Bay Area is also a major tourist destination for Chinese nationals.

So thousands of people were flying from China to Bay Area every day, bringing with them, Covid19. Bay Area identified 3 of the first 20 Covid cases in USA.

But Bay Area was the first in the nation to go into lockdown, and its people observed social distancing and masks.

Now, look at the results:

Covid19 death rate per million:
Contra Costa County = 305 (Swalwell territory)
Santa Clara County = 330 (Lofgren territory)
Kern County = 550 (McCarthy territory)
Fresno County = 710 (Nunes territory)

Also, let’s look at some states with low population density, low population of Chinese nationals, zero tourist attractions for Chinese, and zero tech companies with Chinese ties:

Montana = 890
Alabama = 970
Iowa = 1200
Louisiana = 1,500
North Dakota = 1,600

The data is from the same source, so over-attribution of deaths to Covid19 applies to all the data points.

I am deeply bothered by this data. Aren’t you?

It is not just that we Republicans are killing our fellow Americans 2x to 5x higher rate than Liberals.

That would be bad enough.

But we are overwhelming hospitals, which is denying healthcare to other patients as well.
