A federal judge on Friday dismissed a bid by Rep. Louie Gohmert (Texas) and other Republicans that sought to endow Vice President Pence with the legal authority to effectively overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral win.
In his ruling, Texas-based U.S. District Judge Jeremy Kernodle, a Trump appointee, said the GOP plaintiffs lacked standing. The judge found that Gohmert suffered no legally recognizable injury.
The other plaintiffs, a group of Arizona Republicans who self-identify as an alternate “slate” of pro-Trump electors, could not link their supposed injury to Pence, he reasoned.

I’m not even sure if I see the point of the lawsuit. Either Pence has the constitutional ability to do what Gohmert says he wants him to do, or he doesn’t.
If he does, then the lawsuit is unnecessary.
If he doesn’t, the lawsuit is also unnecessary.
If Pence signs off on a fraudulent, stolen, election. He is part of the coup

Like most VPs he’s trying to set himself up to run in 2024. If Biden can do it, Pence can do it is probably his reasoning.

I don’t trust Pence. I think he’s an establishment politician that, as you are alluding to here, is thinking more about his political future than the future of America.
I hope he’s gone and Trump gets the right guy in there who’s got as much guts and determination as Trump to take over when Trump is gone.
Many people here at Free Republic have been exceptionally unkind to Vice President Pence who has been one of President Trump’s greatest supporters.

If Pence doesn’t stand up for our country Wednesday, he will never get my vote.
Moreover, he will go down as one of the biggest hypocrites in history, in not speaking out against our domestic enemies who have sworn to destroy every traditional value Pence claims to hold sacred!!!

I agree with your post. Pence had been very loyal during some of the toughest times.
