When you are in a big mass of people, you must always keep
your wits about you. Do not place yourself in a position
that could become vulnerable to this sort of thing.
Remain on the side, so you can walk away.
Don’t stand in the center in front.
Read the crowd. How rowdy are they. If you aren’t careful,
this is what you will wind up dying of.
So sorry this took place.
And don’t trample over other people.
Bono supposedly made a name for himself pulling up a woman who was about to get killed at a concert from the smashing crowd
Later, people thought it was a publicity stunt and that she was never really in danger
But it could and does happen
also, it hacked off his fellow band members at the time
I tried to stay at the edges of the crowd and I refused to go over a solid wall close to the building, on the west side. I also usually will not walk in big groups between bicycle racks because that is a favorite tactic for funneling demonstrators into a dead end situation where mayhem breaks out. The crowd on most of the west side was fine, but the ones up on the balconies were braver than I was.
The most scared I have been in a crowd was at a rock concert. It was a somewhat small arena. During the break between bands I attempted to go to the bathroom and found myself in a hallway with hundreds of other people JAMMED together. I mean I was bodily up against other people front back and sides.
I could not stop moving as I was being pushed along by the crowd (NOT A MOB). All I could think of was not to be pushed to the floor as I know I would have gotten trampled.
Large crowds are DANGEROUS!
And don’t go to a British soccer match.
I remember the days of rock concerts. The mass of people is a very scary phenomenon. I have also been to areas where there is societal chaos and people become animal like.
