The Washington Monument will remain closed indefinitely to the public to protect staff and visitors from COVID-19, the National Park Service (NPS) said Saturday.
The monument closed on Jan. 11 as part of security measures around President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
NPS said they would be keeping an eye on the public health conditions in the D.C. area and other indoor attractions’ operating status to determine when it would be safe to reopen.
Along with the Washington Monument, all indoor attractions managed as part of the National Mall and Memorial Parks — such as the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site and tours of the Old Post Office Tower — have also been closed.

The World War Two Memorial is directly behind the Washington Monument. Are they going to close that? Again?

With the Left in power the Washington Monument needs to be revised. It needs to be flanked by two shorter similar monuments on each side (4 in total) and aimed west. Then called the Washington to America monument.
I thought the DC Mayor just “re-allowed” indoor dining.

We were going to be there Thanksgiving.......
....but almost ALL the special places......like the Smithsonian...etc were going to be closed

Maybe he saw pictures on the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing.
Last year, the Park Service, under President Trump used the Washington Monument as the backdrop and projected a full size image of Apollo 11 onto it.
To say it was an awesome spectacle of the audacity of America is an absolute understatement.
We went to one of the shows and it was an historical spectacle.
There was a little kid near us who was all excited about NASA. He reminded me of our son, who was also excited about NASA when he was young. He is now aa aerospace engineer at NASA and was with us that evening.
Took them less than a week to pull out the time worn “Washington Monument” scam.
Because they received their education at government schools in the last few decades.
