Washington (CNN) — US Capitol Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a West Virginia man who was armed with a handgun and 20 rounds of ammunition outside the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, which is near the US Capitol, a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police Department said.
He was taken into custody for having a black .9mm Sig Sauer handgun and the ammunition, the report said.
The arrest comes weeks after hundreds of rioters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to stop the Senate's confirmation of President Joe Biden. Five people, including a police officer were killed. Security was tightened throughout DC after the January 6 insurrection and continued through last week's presidential inauguration.

This speaks to why my wife and I didn’t go there on the sixth. I told her I would not go there unarmed, and it is illegal to be armed there. So unless I have a death wish, I’ll never see DC in person.

The gun was in the center console of his car. He was arrested for transporting his weapon. It wasn’t even on his person. He wasn’t even outside of his car.
71-year-old guy with it locked in his car......
Probably answered the cops honestly when questioned and allowed search......

The officer asked the man if there was a gun in the vehicle, to which he said one was in the center console, police said.
Wow, all of 20 rounds. Not exactly the insurrectionist type, just an old man going to the VA probably with his personal protection gun.

It is illegal to be white and armed in Washington DC.
The locals in the hood are armed to the teeth, but they have royal blood so it is ok.
Clearly DC needs stricter gun control laws.
