These idiots like Kasich just don’t get it that they are 5% in the next primary if they run. They are pariahs, toxic.

"We need a new party. The GOP is simply too corrupt."

So go join one!
According to this listing there are nearly two dozen "third parties" already available, including:

  1. Libertarian Party
  2. Constitution Party
  3. Conservative Party
  4. Independent Party
  5. Veterans Party
  6. America's Party
And then there are many more whack-job Leftist parties too.
Just because you never heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist.

And all are almost totally irrelevant.
The only parties which matter, or ever can matter, are Democrats & Republicans.
Pick one and work with it, or you are basically just p*ss*ing into the wind, FRiend.

"The demise would be quicker and far more certain as a Kasich party!"

Right.
Years ago, Kasich seemed OK to me, but then something went wrong in his head and he went nuts.
No explaining it, that I can see, except maybe the workings of an out-of-control personal ego.
Or maybe, like Cheney he was a Busher who never got over Jeb's humiliation?

Whatever the reason, there's no Republican passion for guys like Kasich (and, sadly too many others) and their "leadership" would take not only the party but also the country into some very dark places, imho.

The GOP will die rapidly if they try and purge the Trump supporters. Maybe Kasich should form his own party? I understand that “Whig Party” is not being used right now.

America is dying on the vine as you speak, Mr. Kasich and you helped make it happen.

Amen bro. My sister lives in Ohio. She says all the conservatives she knows, hold him in utter contempt.

The fact that Kasich made this statement on CNN tells you all you need to know.

This is sort of like a Hasidic Jew converting to Islam ... and then going on al-Jazeera to tell Jews how they must act.

Working with the Republican politicians to defeat faux-socialist feudalism is pissing in the wind. Here’s a hint: they agree with the Democrat politicians. They all believe that the standard of living for the American worker must decrease and that Americans need to carry the burden for the rest of the world, but reap none of the rewards. Only a select few should lead, control, and be rewarded. That is not America. So working with the Vichy Republicans might make you feel good, but if you think there are two parties, you are delusional.

"I understand that “Whig Party” is not being used right now."

Donald Trump's Republican Party is, basically, the old Whig party reestablished.
You remember, Whigs were an alliance of Southern & Northern conservatives, the old Federalists who wrote & ratified the Constitution against Democrat (nee anti-Federalists) opposition.

Whigs were a national party that won two national elections (1840 & 1848) by carrying large numbers of Deep South, Upper South and Northern states.
But then Whigs split up over slavery and Northern Whigs became Republicans, Southern Whigs became American Party, then Constitutional Unionists.
After the war the old Southern Whigs more-or-less disappeared into the Southern Democrat party.

Donald Trump didn't first bring them back out again (you could say that was Barry Goldwater '64), but he did put their issues -- Americans first, Constitutional Union, anti-Deep State, etc. -- at the top of his agenda.

So Trump's Republican party is the old Whig North-South alliance.
What idiots like Kasich seem to want is reestablish the old Northern Republicans, Southerners need not apply.

I think even Ohioans know that's a recipe for disaster.

"Working with the Republican politicians to defeat faux-socialist feudalism is pissing in the wind."

Nonsense because, there are today more genuine conservatives in the Republican party than in all the conservative "third parties" combined.
They work every day to defeat the craziest of Leftist lunacies, and they can often pull "moderates" to our side, making us the majority.

So people keep crying about "third party, third party, third party", but there are already nearly two dozen "third parties" to chose from, many of them as conservative as anyone could wish for.
So join one!

But what's the point, it's a total wasted effort?
If you wish to influence politics directly, then you have to work within one of the major parties, third parties are just social clubs.

Republicans saw something they (we) like in Donald Trump, and so if he wants it he should have no trouble remaining as the party leader.
But if he, or anybody else, ever effectively splits the Republicans, all that does is guarantee Democrat rule in perpetuity.

No sane person would do that.
