The distribution throughout the world was through the revolving door of expatriate Chinese leaving from Wuhan, China, for months preceding the outbreak anywhere else in the world, then rotating these individuals home and sending out a new wave, until the spread of the virus hit critical mass, and spread to the populations in the countries that hosted these expatriate Chinese communities.
