When i lived in COLD WORLD, coal was my mainstay. The cheapest fuel per btu. Go outside, grab 40lb bag, pop into yhe hopper, and you’re good to go for 12 to 18 hours. Wood required constant fiddling.

If you’re speaking of btu output from coal, I believe you’re right, however coal fired plants have too many political obstacles that clean burning natural gas does not.

We know that there are clean burning coal operations, but the leftist greenie weenies could care less.

Hard to dispute clean burning natural gas. The nation has trillions of cu.ft. of know gas deposits as well as what is currently stored. Read a couple of years ago, yet another 1.2 trillion cu.ft. deposit discovered off the coast of Louisiana.
