Prior to being elected to the Senate in ‘80, he was in the US House from ‘74 to ‘80.

Prior to being in the US House, he was a member of the Iowa Legislature from ‘59 to ‘74.

NO ONE regardless of whether there’s an R or D after their name should be holding office for that long.

That was the one thing the Founding Fathers missed on: term limits. I don't blame them, though. It's not their fault that they couldn't see the invention of central air conditioning, which made DC livable during the summer.

Up until the 1920s, Congress got its business done, usually by mid-May, then departed for home. If you've been to DC during the summer, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Texas summers are hot, but they aren't miserable like DC.
