A seemingly effective way for politicians to justify our need for their services is to fabricate or exaggerate a problem, promise to fix said problem with a new program or lots of spending and then claim victory in the form of public acclaim and reelection.

Not sure if by fabricate here they mean 'lie' or 'create' but they do both of those. I'd say lie about imaginary or near-imaginary problems more often than create, like the COVID 'pandemic', but they create real ones too, like how health care gets paid for, or poverty, then jump in cause we obviously need their 'help'. Actually, COVID is probably both lie and create, now that I think about it.

Gee Joe you could put 14,000 people to work by rescinding your EO ending the Keystone Pipeline and it won’t cost the taxpayers a dime
