President Biden moved the goalposts Tuesday night about his administration’s goal for reopening schools and in the process threw his press secretary, Jen Psaki, under the bus.
The administration’s original goal was to have a majority of schools open at least one day per week, according to Psaki.
Much like Biden’s vaccination goal, it was criticized as setting too low a bar as many school districts had already opened before Biden took office and more were in the process of opening by the time he was sworn in.
On Tuesday at a town hall, Biden told moderator Anderson Cooper that Psaki was incorrect and that what he said was a majority of K-8 schools should be open in his first 100 days.
“No, that’s not true. There was a mistake in the communication,” Biden said. “But what I’m talking about is I said opening the majority of schools in K-through-eighth grade because they’re the easiest to open, the most needed to be opened, in terms of the impact on children and families having to stay home.”
Biden also contradicted Psaki when he said schools may have to be open over the summer to make up for the lost learning.
But Psaki told the media last week that schools wouldn’t be open over the summer.
“And you’re right: Schools won’t be in session for the summer, but this is a pandemic we’re working to get under control.”
Psaki then tried to clarify her remarks to line up with Biden’s in a tweet.
“Last week I said POTUS goal was to open schools five days a week as quickly as possible. And that we are going to rely on science. Which is exactly what we are doing.”

How can you throw someone who knows nothing and says nothing under the bus?
I watched her once. She’s not ready for prime time. It’s like on January 20th the pros were kicked out and they brought in, not the JV team, but grade schoolers.
It’s pathetic. Nothing against her, personally. I actually feel bad for her.
Is he going to circle back and run her over?
Biden and saki; Dumb and Dumber
“I actually feel bad for her.”
I don’t feel bad for her, not one bit. She knew before she took the job what it entailed. I once turned down a promotion, for two reasons — I wasn’t ready for it, and there was another employee who was more qualified. I told my supervisor that, and at first he wasn’t happy but he later thanked me.
Folks need to know and act on their limitations.
In all fairness to the young lady, this administration is a complete mess when it comes to messaging.
She has no credibility because they are all over the map.
Probably, even if he doesn’t intend to run her over again. Problem is that he has absolutely no idea of where he’s gone or even who’s driving the bus.
By the time he’s done, the bus will be higher than Everest...
She actually doesn’t need really credibility, though, when the overwhelming majority of the media hacks whom she encounters consider it their job to bolster what she’s saying rather than dispute it.

REALITY CHECK Americans want to get vaccines and they want to get their kids back to school;
but the Biden administration is struggling to deliver, and is running into obstacles from his own base.
She’s a smartass Clinton/Obama retread.
Not as pretty nor as smart as Marie Harf...
You have to forgive ol’ resident Joe. He can’t remember what he said a few minutes ago, much less last week. But ask him about “Corn-Pop”, and he’ll give you a 15 minute monologue.
“science”
How many school districts in the USA have been open since last August? This is STOOO PED!! Thank God I live in a Red State where our people have enough sense to not be controlled by Dr. FraudXi! OPEN THE SCHOOLS!
Relying on science? When children as a rule VERY VERY VERY rarely get coronavirus? (It’s WAY less dangerous for kids than flu.)

Psaki is so out of the loop.....you wonder if she even knows what her job is.
She seems to be okay w/ looking stupid before the media.....then again, that comes from being a slavish Democrat.
And she doesnt give a fig about what the American public thinks.
14 comments in, as I type, and no 9me has asked the question, “Why is the federal government involving itself in an issue that should be deal5 with at the local level by the community and school board?”
