Gantz: IDF updating military plans for potential strike on Iran nuclear sites

Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Thursday said the Israel Defense Forces is continuously updating its plans for a prospective military strike on Iranian nuclear sites.

Gantz, in an interview with Fox News, said the military plans would not be finalized until right before such a strike was set to be carried out.

“If the world stops them [Iran] before, it’s much the better. But if not, we must stand independently and we must defend ourselves by ourselves,” added the defense minister.

Israel has twice conducted military strikes against the nuclear programs of its enemies — Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007 — under what’s become known as the Begin Doctrine, which maintains that Jerusalem will not allow an enemy country to obtain an atomic weapon.

Probably better not to announce this ahead of time.

For military strategy, they never would.

But for the sake of diplomatic negotiations, it makes sense.
Iran has been getting a little cocky because they think Biden is a pushover compared to Trump, including those missile attacks in Iraq. They need to be told that they can be cut down to size if they don’t come to the table with a little more realism.

Maybe the Iranians will surprise the world and just “Chernobyl” themselves.

The Israelis may have to hurry. Their flimsy alliance with the 9/11 Saudis and the arid Sunni Gulf States probably won’t last but for now they have flyover rights and landing sites to rearm and refuel. Also the Obama operatives who have again seized CIA and NSA will soon release to the mullahs whatever information they have on Mossad’s network within Iran.

I thought it was the Jooz in the U.S. government that were pushing us into this war so that Israel wouldn’t have to.

Possible, but I doubt that. More likely an Israeli asset will sabotage a facility, kill more nuclear weapons scientists or something else creative.

I'm confused here. I thought our current administration despises the Israeli Jews and would just as soon be rid of them.

I can just see President Harris reacting to an Iranian nuclear strike on Israel by launching massive retaliation against Israel.

Iran is in a very precarious situation right now.
Turkey and Russia both have told them to “sit down”, and even Assad in Syria is secretly talking to the Israeli gov’t about Iran.

Every Iranian military man in Syria should be targeted first. Let the folks back home do something about it.

Another good reason for sooner rather than later as Joe Biden looks ready for pasture.

Probably better not to announce this ahead of time.

I remember, not so very long ago, when Israel maintained total operational secrecy at all times. It was a brilliant strategy for keeping opponents off balance and letting their guard down. I don't know if it is a deliberate policy choice to be such blabbermouths now, but if it isn't, then there are just a lot of idiots talking way too much.

“Probably better not to announce this ahead of time.”

It isn’t like this is going to come out of the blue where it will be a shock to anyone. No need for strategic surprise here. Indeed, not possible. But I am sure that tactical surprise will be used by the Israelis. I doubt that they will tell anyone ahead of time, likely not even the U.S. until it is too late to start. There are pro-palestinians in the Harris/Biden administration which would spill the beans.
