A new study of the U.K. and South Africa variants of SARS-CoV-2 predicts that current vaccines and certain monoclonal antibodies may be less effective at neutralizing these variants and that the new variants raise the specter that reinfections could be more likely.
The study was published in Nature on March 8, 2021. A preprint of the study was first posted to BioRxiv on January 26, 2021.

All virii, as with all bacteria, always mutate. Anyone who did not see this coming needs to turn in their “science card”. From an evolutionary point of view, and this is evolution in action, it ought to evolve to a tamer, less virulent form. A more deadly form will burn itself out quicker. A more contagious, but less deadly form will spread wider -— which is the “purpose” of evolution; i.e., make more babies.
Now don't exaggerate. The War on Terror has only been going on... checking notes... 20 years. Hmmm.
A similar study needs to look at how well the natural antibodies of a person who successfully beat a Covid-19 infection are at neutralizing various strains of Covid-19 compared to persons who have had either of the vaccines.
