Biden tax hike could hit people earning $200K, White House clarifies

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday clarified that President Biden’s proposed tax hike would apply to people who earn $200,000 per year if they are married to someone who makes the amount.

Psaki said at her daily press briefing that the proposed $400,000 threshold for tax increases applies to “families” rather than individuals.

The clarification significantly lowers the tax-hike threshold announced by Biden in an ABC News interview that aired Wednesday.

Biden’s interview statement appeared to indicate the cutoff would be $400,000 in individual income.

“Yes, anybody making more than $400,000 will see a small to a significant tax increase,” Biden told George Stephanopoulos.

Biden added, “If you make less than $400,000, you won’t see one single penny in additional federal tax.”

A lot of people here in Silicon Valley who voted for Biden are going to get hit with this. That’s the only good thing about it.

I agree. That's fair. We'll have to watch the inflation rate though. It may impact the middle class soon if inflation takes off.

They should. Jack up taxes for everyone on everything. The quicker it all falls apart, the quicker this nightmare ends.

These Dems are out of touch, and have been for a while. Back in 1987, Ted Kennedy, who hated the Reagan tax cuts, made some statement that anyone making over $25k was in the top 10%. I was at a steel mill at the time, and that did not go over well with the rank and file. And that was union shop.

"Yes, anybody making more than $400,000 will see a small to a significant tax increase,” Biden told George Stephanopoulos."

Patriots who have friends making more than $400,000 need to ask their friends if they would be willing to do the following.

They need to elect federal senators who will promise to police federal spending to make sure that it is fully compliant with Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

After all, if Congress stops stealing state revenues in the form of unconstitutional taxes, the states will ultimately find new revenues so that they will no longer have to beg Congress for funding that Congress effectively stole from them anyway.

Lower federal taxes also hopefully means less fraud and waste that corrupt feds are infamous for.

Policing federal spending for Section 8 compliance is also a good job for CBO imo.

All my life whenever the Dims vow to raise taxes on just the rich they wind up raising my taxes too — even when I was making just $6/hr.

Per the 2018 IRS Statistics on Income, 5.6% of all returns had AGI of $200,000 or more. Those returns accounted for 46.3% of all taxable income (about $4t) and they paid 62.8% of all income tax (almost $1t).

While King Joe does not know the true meaning of his Edicts or Proclamations, we are so lucky that Jen Psaki is always nearby to fully explain the true meaning of all royal Decrees.

Just do a 10 percent flat tax. No deductions or anything. We’d have more money to put towards debt plus run the government. Why is this so hard to do?

Because the filthy rich have huge write offs like airplanes. Trump paid 750 a year in taxes. How do we get that deal?

Because that would put tax attorneys out of business and 99% of the lobbyists in DC out of business as well, which of course dries up the "contributions" to congressmen. The swamp lives ....

I still don’t know what they mean except they want more money to piss away.

Yeah, agreed that sentence makes no sense at all. Psaki is the perfect nonsensical spokesperson for our nonsensical absentee President. I assume they meant $200,000 per person or $400,000 per family which is usually what they mean... but you know what they say about assume.
