This bill could be the key to securing the southern border.
Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton filed a bill in the Texas House of Representatives on March 4 aimed at creating a fund to pay for “border security enhancement projects.” As an Op-Ed from The Blaze’s Daniel Horowitz explained, it could even lead to the construction of the border wall in certain states.
Slaton’s bill would use state funds to complete the border wall in Texas and would require the governor to seek reimbursement from the federal government. In short, if the bill passes in the Texas legislature, the state would be able to construct a border wall system along its southern border using money from the Biden administration.
The bill would also strengthen Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s existing push for border security, reinforcing “Operation Lone Star” which launched this week and deployed National Guard and Border Patrol agents to protect the southern border against incoming drug cartels.

I think that this Texas legislation, and the Republican Senators attempt to challenge Biden’s suspension of Congressionally appropriated border wall projects (under the Impoundment Act), will only succeed if the Dems assess that they need to build wall to cover their butts politically, from blowback from the border crisis.
If they make that political determination, these mechanisms can give them an excuse to their radical base - bad Republicans made us do this, blame them.
If however, they think the controlled media will enable them to get away (politically) just steamrolling open borders and mass immigration, they will tie down any wall building effort with a hundred and one delays.
I can believe TX will get it done but what about NM, AZ, CA?
Would be great to see a status map of Wall together with funding needed to complete.

It's gonna take something else to secure the border, something besides just Texas and something NOT Federal. One has no idea what that might be.
As a Historical note, I believe the Texas Rangers were established to deal with thieves crossing the border from Mexico and murderous incursions by the Comanche
If I were the Governor of Texas, I would deputize the entire Texas National Guard as Texas Rangers and send them to close off the border with Mexico
All governor Abbott has to do is call on the citizens of Texas. He will get millions of volunteers to stop this crap.
