$29 Billion Railroad Merger to Connect U.S., Mexico and Canada
The New York Times ^ | 21 March 2021 | Lauren Hirsch

The deal is an effort by Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern to capitalize on an expected increase in the flow of trade as the three countries rebound from the pandemic.

Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern announced plans on Sunday to combine in a $29 billion deal that would create the first railroad network connecting the United States, Mexico and Canada.

It is an effort to capitalize on the trade flows expected to run through the three countries after President Donald J. Trump signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement into law last year. It’s also a bet on the strength of the industrial economy as the United States rebounds from the pandemic.

Canadian Pacific links major ports on the East and West Coasts between the United States and Canada, while Kansas City Southern connects the United States, Mexico and Panama. The two connect on a single point: a joint facility in Kansas City, Mo., where Kansas City Southern is based.

CP needed a way to get their oil to the Gulf Ports to export. KCS can do that. Makes sense, and now Buffett doesn’t have an oil moving monopoly.

The only thing it will do is bring people here whose skin color and ethnicity checkmark on a government form means they outrank me, my kids, and everyone in our family when it comes to jobs and education. In addition to raising my taxes so I can feed them, not me.

Unused rails can be put to use. Run a cable all the way down the middle of the tracks. Handcuff our jail prisoners to it and make them walk the length of a long rail journey. Supply them with tents, sleeping bags and backpacks. Throw in an airhorn to scare off the animals. Save money and it’s good cardio.

I see, so all the illegals can board freight trains and in a couple of days, presto, they are deep into the US.

Well, off the top of my head, that business is tied up by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe division of Berkshire Hathaway

Some think it was Warren Buffet that seduced Biden to kill the Keystone pipeline

Only works if illegal aliens given free ride out of the US—send them to Mexico if Canada does not want them.

I wonder what these long distance trains with dozens of railcars will run on? Batteries?

Wonder how long it will take to merge this with the BEAST migrant train thru Mexico? Then we can see trains with people riding on top of the cars like they do down south. Could call it a tourist attraction.

The merged CP/KCS tracks allow shipping from the Canadian tar sands to Houston. The KCS line also has access to the coal fields of Wyoming.

We’ll soon see. If the Feds block the merger, Buffet paid The Big Guy his 10%. If the Feds don’t block it, then CP did.

No, with this, they can be deep in the heart of Canada. In either event, it's better than having them in Texas.

Great! Just great!

Now the migrant vermin will be able, much more rapidly, to attain critical mass inside the former U.S.

Happy days for communism...

The KCS trains around here are mostly stacked containers. There is an intermodal terminal not far away. But most of the line servicing the intermodal is set to be converted to passenger service. I suppose they will share the track after it is upgraded at taxpayer expense.
