U.S. Post Office proposes slowing down their delivery, raising prices

As part of their recently proposed 10-year strategic plan to return to financial solvency, the United States Postal Service has outlined their intent to slow down delivery standards and raise prices.

The current standard for first-class mailings is a maximum of three days. Under the recent proposal, that number would extend to a maximum delivery time of five days. Postal officials said that a majority of their first-class business would continue arriving within three days even with the proposed extension.

USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said that without these changes, the service would require another "government bailout." Over the course of the last 13 years, the USPS has lost almost $87 billion.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized the plan put forth by DeJoy, the outspoken Trump supporter, but said that Congress would see to it that the USPS has sufficient financial resources "to serve the American people."

🔦 The USPS recently announced a major upgrade to its outdated fleet of delivery trucks, with the new fleet scheduled to be in use by 2023.

I mailed a package from PA to DE on February 1, and it arrived March 11.

So, LOL at their current delivery standards.

the service would require another "government bailout."

It is not a "bailout" to pay for one of the few actual Constitutional responsibilities of Congress.

“U.S. Post Office proposes slowing down their delivery...”

Uh oh, Biden just lost the vote of avid junk mail readers.
No junk mail, no peace, I say.

Slowed down? They sure were fast when they delivered a truckload of bogus mailing ballots at MI at 4 am on November 5, 2020..

Not only that, quite a few post offices need charging stations. In our PO there is no room for the vehicles much less electrical outlets when half the fleet is parked out on the street over night.

We had the same problem.
They must have trailer trucks and warehouses full of delayed mail and packages at peak times...a huge accumulation...
