Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged that the United Kingdom will leave lockdown “once and for all” and those plans will not change even in the face of a so-called ‘third wave’ of coronavirus coming from Europe.
In a statement on Tuesday marking the first anniversary of the lockdown, Prime Minister Johnson said: “It’s because of every person in this country that lives have been saved, our NHS was protected, and we have started on our cautious road to easing restrictions once and for all.”

A week ago London police beat up a bunch of Royal Army wives at the Sarah Everard protests. The next night the wives were protected by their Royal Army husbands.
Boris is astute enough to realize that he can very quickly find himself overthrown and up in front of a firing squad. Time to reopen the UK and gain some political capital.
It’s rather a stretch to link the lockdown exit with the Everard events – the timetable for coming out of lockdown had already been announced when they happened.
