The giant cargo ship wedged across the Suez Canal is blocking shipments worth an estimated $9.5billion per day including food and oil which will have an 'enormous' impact on the world economy, experts have warned.
At least 150 ships are now stuck in the logjam caused by 200,000-ton cargo ship Ever Given which ran aground in the narrow channel on Tuesday, with goods worth $29billion already held up.
The effect has been felt on world markets as the price of crude oil shot up 6 per cent on Wednesday, reversing months of often-record falls caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

My brother has a 115’ yacht with full GPS navigation. If nothing got in its way, you could fire it up in Juneau, Alaska and punch in Elliot bay in Seattle and it would get there with nobody on board.
i.e. it’s almost as if the wind was so strong this boat could not compensate, or they didn’t compensate enough.
The US is an oil Exporter, so this should help us financially, right? :)

Its going where the wind wants to push it and in those narrow waters there isn’t a lot the master or pilots can do about it.
