My guess as to why his family didn’t go there was...they could make more money here. Being able to move from Havana to Beverly Hills in 1960 means they were far wealthier then just about anyone in Cuba.
But this is just a pit stop for them. Things get tuff, off they go. The current gig of being able to take over the police forces of the entire United States is probably a lot farther then they thought they’d get with the current grift, but what the hell. Exploit it for all you can. Take some risks, see if you can solidify the gains.
When the Cuban refugees came to the US in massive numbers in the early ‘60s the assumption was that it was temporary. They would go home when Castro was overthrown. JFK screwed that up and no US President since then has had the sense or the guts to take out the vile regime that owns the island for the last 60 years. So they’re still here, and growing roots because I guess it’s easier to do that then fight to take back your country.

And what most people may not be aware of, or those 21, most already had some type of mandate. Border Patrol was its own entity. Customs Agency was its own. Coast Guard was in the DOD. So on and so forth.
But, some genius decided that DHS had to have their own armed federal agents, so they created DHS Agents. Since every other criminal activity already had an agency responsible for investigating said criminal activity, what were these newly armed agents supposed to do. No one really knows. So they do a little bit of everything. Help out locals and show up with more gadgets and toys than you can imagine.
On that note though, for now, I’d rather they take over “protecting” the country so we can get rid of the FBI.

Now that’s a REALLY good question.
You gotta believe they have their hooks into him, and he agrees with them politically. Which is amazing considering that his family left. But...maybe they didn’t sever all the ties, since he seems to have their political bent.

I listened to a portion of a speech given this past week by “the Peoples” general, Gen Flynn. I was stunned to hear him recount the tens of thousands of patriots who gave their lives to protect this country and then followed that up with saying that we need to be prepared to give our lives for our freedom.
That statement clearly points to Gen Flynn’s assessment of the path we are on. WAR.
