There was a later incident where the Border Patrol found people trying to cross in rafts, and the coyotes threw a baby in the water and turned over the rafts to create chaos and escape, and maybe allow some number of illegal crossers to finish the crossing.
Do these migrants not know what they face, rapes and beatings and drownings and dying in the desert? Do they live in such hells that it’s worth it? Or are they coerced by the very gangs that charge them for the privilege?

The Department of Health and Human Services, which takes custody of unaccompanied minors after they’re transferred from CBP custody, is asking federal workers to volunteer for 120-day deployments at the border.
That's funny. My Guard unit had 10-12 people put on the border mission as their 2-week AT. Word is, they were then told they'd be stuck down there for several months. Not even asked to volunteer, all of them potentially stuck there.
