This week, on the basis of whole-cloth lies, major corporations went to political war with the state of Georgia. The lies at issue revolved around Georgia's new voter law, characterized by both Stacey Abrams and President Joe Biden as a new form of Jim Crow. What do these dastardly new voter restrictions do? They require an ID number to receive an absentee ballot, with language identical to that of federal law; they bar electioneering within 150 feet of a polling place or 25 feet of voters in line, including handing out food or water for partisan purposes; they increase the number of mandatory days of weekend early voting; they preserve some drop boxes that did not exist before the pandemic; they require additional voting machines and election personnel in crowded precincts; they increase voting hours in future elections for the vast majority of counties.
These provisions are similar to the laws in a vast majority of states. That didn't stop Democrats and the media from simply lying about the Georgia voting law. While some in the media did point out that Biden had lied about the law's supposed crackdown on voting hours, nobody in the media treated his "Jim Crow" contentions with the sneering disrespect they so richly deserved. Instead, they simply parroted the line that Republicans were engaged in widespread voter suppression, another lie -- a lie far more unsubstantiated than Republican concerns about voter fraud and irregularity.

The only alternative is the formation of alternative companies in every industry. If Coca-Cola wishes to cater to the woke, conservatives will need to build a competitor. Conservatives don't have first-mover advantage in these spaces. But that doesn't alleviate the responsibility to find a different path than funding those who would cut them off at the knees.
The left has politicized everything. The right has avoided that tactic, because it's ugly and divisive. But it's too late to put the genie back in the bottle. It's time for mutually assured destruction. There's only one thing worse than having nuclear weapons: unilateral disarmament. Better to establish mutually assured destruction now and put corporate America on notice that, by stepping into the middle of fraught political debate, it risks just as much blowback from the right as from the left.
Yeah past time is right. The presidency is based on a lie as it happens.
I have stopped watching baseball on TV. I can and will stop going to my 2 or 3 baseball games per year.
I cut back on Coke about 4 months ago. Last weekend I stopped it entirely. My wife was an avid Coke drinker. She agreed this last weekend to stop, and we did not buy our usual 2 six-packs for this week...
I haven't flown Delta in years. We take 2 or 3 trips per year, usually on Southwest. I would never fly Delta unless there were no alternatives.
I’d really like to join in the boycotts.
But I can’t. I gave up on most of these companies years ago.
The problem is the media never call out Biden or Abrmas on their overt lies and spreading of misinformation - as they tried to do to Trump before, during and after his term as president.
No one in the media ever asked them to explain exactly how asking for an ID is akin to “Jim Crow Laws.”
This is when it’s time: A person has nothing to lose. For that to hit critical mass, things have to get a lot worse - for a lot of people. Ending the moratorium on evictions could do it.

It had a head start under Clinton when I dropped Tyson foods and Ben and Jerry’s
I also dropped support of companies that sponsor programming that I don’t approve.

Past time is certainly right.
The problem, from my perspective, is I can’t boycott these companies, I never used them to begin with, or rarely did. I haven’t had a Coke 4 times in the past 25 years, when either Pepsi or Dr Pepper was not available. I don’t drink them more than about 2 times a month anyway. These days, I try to stick to a couple of off brand craft sodas. AWB or IBC root beer, Boylan, Sioux City Sasparilla root beer.
I’ve been on a plane exactly once in the past 40 years, can’t remember what airline, I flew back to Louisiana from Las Vegas in about 2010, swore I would never fly again after being treated like a criminal by TSA. 20 minutes in line to go through “security”, take off your cap, shjoes, belt and jacket. I was frikken FREEZING. Went through my overnight bag, I thought they were going to make me turn on my laptop and prove it actually did run, can’t take a small shampoo bottle, 2 inch pocketknife, my damn ink pen...totally ridiculous. How the hell do they figure on making you safer by removing everything you can think of you could use to defend yourself?
Totally insane. I don’t remember seeing one airplane hijacked before they startted banning guns on commercial flights. Not one. typical criminals, they target unarmed, defenseless victims. Cowards.
So Delta has been off my list along with all the others for a long time.
I turned the TV off 3 years ago, don’t miss it. I have plenty movies on DVD, get my news online.
Someone posted a longer list of all the companies that sponsor baseball. I only found a couple there.
Lysol - I have a small pack of 20 Lysol antibacterial wipes in the car, once it’s gone I’m through with Lysol. Generic is easy to find. Already have 2 or 3 packs of generic.
UPS - sent my brother a package a couple of months ago, they were $2 cheaper than the post office. Only time I’ve ever used UPS. Won’t happen again.
Mastercard - that one’s difficult, my credit union uses them for my debit card, can’t get away from it. Don’t have a credit card, don’t want one. MC or not...
That’s it. As long as companies like Ruger, Taurus, Colt and S&W don’t start taking sides I’m almost completely off the corporate bandwagon to begin with. At least those that are pushing liberal causes.
When Target decided a couple of years ago they would allow anyone to use whatever bathroom matched the gender they felt like, I never walked in the door again. Ditto for Kroger when they decided their employees should wear rainbow badges. That one sucks, it’s a long drive, but I liked Kroger...oh well, SEE YA...
Walmaart almost lost me when they started to take guns off their shelves, then they backed out probably due to customers screaming. Don’t like them, but a few things I can’t find anywhere else. Only other place in town to get hunting/fishing gear is Academy, usually more expensive. Or a much higher priced small place. Think convenience store that carries lures...YIKES! 4 bucks at wally world, 7 at smaller outfit. Sorry, I like supporting local folks but that’s ridiculous.
