A North Carolina county paused COVID-19 vaccines at a local immunization site on Thursday after 18 people had “adverse” reactions to Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose shot — after a site in Colorado did the same thing a day earlier.
Wake County halted vaccine operations at the PNC Arena in Raleigh following the incidents “out of an abundance of caution,” officials said.
More than 2,300 Johnson & Johnson vaccinations were administered at the clinic Thursday and EMS evaluated 18 patients, Wake County said.
Fourteen of those people had “minor reactions” and were treated on site, while four others were taken to area hospitals for evaluation. They were expected to be released.
“Wake County made the decision to pause today in partnership with the NC Department of Health and Human Services and after consulting with the manufacturer,” the county said. “Together, these teams continue to investigate the issue.”
The county noted that more than 4.5 million have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine nationally and that “the reactions people experienced today were consistent with known common side effects from receiving the vaccine.”
“We know it can be alarming to hear about or see people having reactions to vaccination – this is why we closely monitor those we vaccinate in case of reaction,” Wake County Public Health’s Medical Director Kim McDonald said.
“Right now we are working with NCDHHS and the CDC to further evaluate the situation to assure everyone is confident in the continued safety of our vaccine operations.”
Less than two hours of appointments were left at the PNC Arena when officials made the decision to pause vaccinations. Remaining appointment holders were offered the two-dose Pfizer vaccine or had the opportunity to reschedule.
Wake County plans to hold and store any Johnson & Johnson vaccine until additional information is collected.

The J&J started out with the least side affects. What changed? Baltimore Strong? Competitor sabotage?
The side effects being better is a misnomer . It hasn’t been out as long as the other 2. It’s been out in South Africa longer than USA. They have more to say about it. But there are plenty of Americans now that can attest to it too.
And yeah the Biden era manufacturing hoopla doesn’t help. It used to be made in Netherlands.
As per CDC, the side effects of the vaccine start to develop within a day or two of taking the dose. The side effects may last for a few days but there aren't any Johnson and Johnson vaccine long term side effects you need to worry about. The Jovaccine is taken in a single dose. As per CDC, the Pfizer vaccine is 66.3 per cent effective in preventing COVID 19, as observed under laboratory conditions. The CDC has recommended that anyone above the age of 18 should get vaccinated, but there are also a few exceptions. The CDC has also given a list of people who shouldn't get the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, for various reasons.

The powers that be sure are pushing mRNA, up to and including glossing over side effects including death, glossing over animal trials, ect but ole J&J is not getting the same love.
Just another hmmmm surrounding this whole vaccine boondoggle. For future reference, it is probably not a great idea to do any vaccine at “warp speed”.
Seems folks in Israel are dropping over from the Phizer shot too.

Had J&J vaccine on 3/18 compliments of the VA. No problems. My arm didn’t even get sore.
People aren’t considering they’re heath condition before they get the shot. I doubt conferring with your Dr. is helpful because they won’t risk a law suite.
Maybe you got a placebo.

I got the J & J vaccine yesterday. My arm hasn’t gotten sore, but i had a fever of 1° to 3° for about 16 hours. That’s gone away now. Also a minor headache. I’m hoping that’s all of it.
It seems to have disappeared from the store shelves.

This is a very long-standing and learned opinion
I don’t care what the FReepers who are doctors say about the need to be vaccinated; they know full well that a safe vaccine CANNOT be made in a year or less! NOBODY knows what the long term effects of ANY of these vaccines are. Yes, we know that Covid19 can and has killed people, but that is no excuse to recommend an untested vaccine. And we also know that Covid19 can be and has been treated prophylactically. That seems, to me, a safer plan.
I hope you gave credit to the murdered baby.
The baby murdered so you could get your precious shot would say different if it could.
