There is a lot to be excited by about these vaccines. But there is also a lot to learn. And each individual has different concerns to weigh regarding their bodies, risk factors, etc....
A triple dose (no pun intended) of humility all around would do well for everyone.
As noted prior, COVID-19 threads have a significant signal to noise ratio.
There’s enough sourced information out there for each person to make a data informed decision.
But at the end of the day, it is each person’s decision. And FReepers need to accept that.
Some of the worst offending issues are 1) mask wearing and 2) vaccines.
Good grief, people. Don’t get so wrapped around the axle that others don’t see COVID-19 issues the same as you or don’t make the same decisions as you.
Unfortunately, there are FReepers on both sides that seem to not only disagree with the “other sides” but also antagonize and make the issues personal with insults and threats. A flame war erupts, rendering the thread essentially useless.
Provide references for your positions and argue as politely as possible.
That’s all you can do.

Just the issue I’ve wondered about.
Should a geezer- who is not likely to live long enough to suffer unknown but possible long-term side effects of these vaccines- refuse the vaccine and put the duty to take them upon young people who don’t need protection from the virus, but do need interaction with their elders?
Confusing question to someone who can’t figure straightforward, but complicated, things out I admit!
But for those who can think it’s... something to consider.
Have a 60 something wife with copd and emphysema and yes I’ll get it if there’s a chance it keeps me from taking it home to her. Exact same reason I get the flu shot every year. Otherwise I wouldn’t get either. But you do what you have to do.
I’m a geezer and should get it though I don’t want to (don’t get flu shots).
But to see my “super-geezer” Mother this year my family will demand I do LOL!
So I will. Family first.
Supposedly, none of that Baltimore batch got released because the FDA had to release it... but in such a corrupt town, I wouldn’t put it past someone (without corporate approval, tacit or otherwise) shipping some early and covering it up.
Pretty sure my dose was from Janssen as that’s what the vial indicated.
The egg/shellfish thing is from other vaccines, not any of the COVID ones. Mostly it’s the regular annual flu shots that’s the problem for people with egg/shellfish allergies.
I got it yesterday. They gave me a timer set for 15 mins immediately after to monitor me because I’m allergic to codeine. I said....does it have codeine in it? They laughed and said no....so I handed them back the timer and said...cya. lol I got nothing. Not even a sore arm.
I got it for international travel. When this finally calms down I have a trip to Italy to rebook. Didn’t care one way or the other about getting the J&J because I’ve gone a full year without being sick....and have travelled everywhere. Never stopped living. But I know I’m going to need it to travel.
I wonder if the J&J Baltimore screw-up was intentional.
Poison. I have a friend very ill after her second Moderna shot.
She also had a bad reaction to the first one. She listens to MSM.

Some members of my own Bible Study who have grandkids took the vaccines at the admonition of their children - seriously.
I think it’s nobody’s business, family or otherwise that these vaccines be made compulsory.
It’s sad to think it’s breaking families apart - but so be it. TPTB want this to be an issue to break us apart and turn on each other and turn others in.
