You can bet your bippy they were.

If they didnt take the compensation and buy more land then they have no ody to blame but themselves.

At first glance tbis stinks like corrupt judges.

Yes they would have gotten some type of compensation. I have grave doubts that it was a racist policy.

They were paid $12,500, which might have been fine for the lots, but they had built a lodge, café, and dance hall. They stole his land, livelihood and life’s work because they didn’t want his type around. And it worked. Manhattan Beach is 0.5% black.

The lot is still owned by the City, so giving it back to the family will be easy.

Eminent domain allowed govt to take the land. they declare it condemned and just take it.
