A four-legged robot recently took part in a two-day military exercise alongside French soldiers.

The Boston Dynamics robot, nicknamed Spot, was “apparently” used for reconnaissance missions during the exercise, The Verge reported.

Eighty students of the Ecole Militaire InterArmes, a military training school in Brittany, took part in the exercise involving a range of automated technology.

The “applied research exercise,” organized by French military school École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, was aimed at measuring the contribution of robots during a military operation, wrote Ouest-France.

The robot’s execution time, aggressiveness, and vulnerabilities were evaluated during the exercise, the French news outlet added.

Can anyone understand why or how Boston Dynamics was sold to Hyundai? Isn’t that a national security issue?

Boston Dynamics was an investment of one of Google’s folks, as I recall.

Will there be anything left of America once it has all been sold to foreign interests?

So, a robot dog is practicing how to efficiently put its two front paws up to surrender?

Unmanned aerial drones have already started playing a more significant role in modern combat.

Not just high end strategic systems (like predator drone strikes on High Value Targets), but also low cost tactical systems, like Azerbaijan used recently in Nagorno-Karabakh, or ISIS used in Syria.

“why or how Boston Dynamics was sold to Hyundai?

They actually bought the controlling share from the Japanese (SoftBank), who bought it from Google/Alphabet in 2017.

“Boston Dynamics was an investment of one of Google’s folks, as I recall.”

Ray Kurzweil. His time horizon for return on investment was longer than Corporate could tolerate.

Probably the second half of this decade is when robots will really start coming out as common among us, in stores and households.

And does it have to have one of those harlequin style hair cuts?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to start a Neapolitan Mastiff program and send them into the trenches prior to the legions?
