Do some reading on what NASA said happened to that fifty year old technology.
“We can’t find the plans and specs any more.”
Does that sound like an organization on the way up—or on the way down....
Failed organizations generate lots of excuses and propaganda—but when it comes to actual results, forget about it.
NASA does unmanned missions very well-but that is a totally different skill set than manned missions.
Hmm, that is interesting. Space-X was considered the underdog in this particular contract race because their design relied on the, still in development, Starship. While the other contenders planned to use existing technology. Shows that NASA must believe that Space-X will quickly work out the current issues with Starship (such as...well exploding every time its tested) and be ready to go by 2023.
Musk is an engineer. Bezos is not.
China says they have a lander in orbit around Mars right now (got into orbit a few weeks ago). They say they are doing recon and looking for a good place to land. We’ll see.
Musk will probably have a dozen of his Starships on the moon before then ,LOL
How long until the contract is challenged because an electric model wasn’t considered to comply with Biden’s executive order that all government vehicles be electric?
But will it be battery powered?
It would appear that Elon Musk has a degree in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a degree in Economics from the Wharton School of Business. He was accepted into the PhD energy physics/materials science program at Stanford University, but dropped out on the second day of class.
Some of those poor sheep jumping in the hole are NASA, JAXA, ESA and military program leaders, engineers and astronauts; including the four astronauts launching to ISS this week. lol
The BIO I read stated zip. Physics degrees are not close to BSAE, MSAE. etc. Econ is a help to business, but; he is not qualified for this contact. Notice how the Huntsville, AL is #3.
“We can't find the plans and specs any more.”
Um, stop making sh*t up. NASA could build the Saturn 5 today. But who was it's to use 50 year old rocket technology, especially at it's super high costs? Especially since we have plenty of great, modern, much cheaper and more efficient rockets today.
The Chinese don’t and never have sent a human
anywhere close to the moon.
We did all 50 years ago.
If it’s the NASA Musilim outreach staff I’m good with that.
Agree from what I found on wiki. Musk most likely qualifies for 8a minority contracts. They make millionaires out of Corps. owned by minority types over much more qualified. This nation has gone to h-—.
Thank you for beating me to the punch.
What IS true is that a lot of the contractors that made the Saturn 5 are no longer around, or have the capacity in equipment or trained personnel to make those particular parts
But the idea that we “lost the plans” is nothing but a lie.
Musk has degrees in physics and econ. Not engineering that I know of.
Yeah - sorry. I see now that you were replying to a post about humans. IIRC, SpaceX’s main mission is to get people to Mars. Will sure be an interesting day when that happens (by SpaceX or NASA or whoever).
I wonder though - will it be as exciting as the moon landings? I suppose not. Partly due to all of the amazing images from our various rovers over the years. We didn’t have that before the moon landings (at least not much in the media), so the moon was REALLY new to us.
