I’ve heard that long before Pampers were invented, ‘people’, usually Moms, had to wash and reuse cloth diapers.
To put it mildly, that probably takes some getting used to, but if a Baby is in your charge, you don’t really have a choice. Not everyone can afford Day Maids.
I probably washed and folded thousands of diapers in the 60s.....as did all the Moms in my neighborhood....
..no big deal.

All 4 of my children, born in the 1970s, wore cloth diapers. It’s not that big a deal to launder them.
Agree. I doubt that they even sell cloth diapers any more. I had to wash mine. That was early late early 60’s. Maybe it’s time to go back to doing it yourself! Convenience has a prize!
We did cloth diapers with our four kids. My wife tallied the savings once, it was in the five figures.
Been there, done that.
Paper diapers were pretty awful, in the beginning. My mother, who’s gone on to be with the Lord, paid for diaper service for my third baby. What a blessing THAT was!
Green Karen mommies have been washing cloth diapers right along. Right?
Future Inner Party folk will be easily able to afford day maids.
My mom had 2 babies in diapers in 1961. I was still very young but I would try to help her hang diapers on the clothes line. I still remember the day we got a clothes dryer. She was absolutely ecstatic, you would have thought she won the lotto!
