A new report shows that the U.S. Postal Service has been secretly running a program that monitors American users’ social media posts and shares the information with different government agencies, according to a document acquired by Yahoo News.
According to the document, the law enforcement arm of the U.S. Postal Service has been engaged in a previously unknown surveillance effort, known as the Internet Covert Operations Program, to comb through social media sites for “inflammatory” posts, which are then reported to the government, Yahoo News reported Wednesday.
“Analysts with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) monitored significant activity regarding planned protests occurring internationally and domestically on March 20, 2021,” the document, marked as “law enforcement sensitive,” says. “Locations and times have been identified for these protests, which are being distributed online across multiple social media platforms, to include right-wing leaning Parler and Telegram accounts.”
The document includes several different screenshots of posts from Parler, Facebook, and other social media sites, and says that the surveillance program is monitoring these sites to identify any possible threats.
“iCOP analysts are currently monitoring these social media channels for any potential threats stemming from the scheduled protests and will disseminate intelligence updates as needed.”
USPIS did not respond to questions from Yahoo about the surveillance program but provided a general statement about its responsibilities and authority.

Well, if that’s the case, the USPS can go fornicate themselves.
The USPS is losing money and has had to close many branches. Yet, it has money for surveillance programs like this?
I haven’t used the US Postal Service to send anything in years, and all they deliver me is flyers and unsolicited junk mail. If the USPS has nothing better to do than spy on and tattle on American citizens, it should be disbanded.
How can the USPS afford this effort?
CIA funding?
Probably a government bail-out. Which means we the taxpayers are paying to have ourselves spied on.
Why the Postal Service?
Meanwhile the mail service sucks.
The gesta-PO.
Hey it’s not all that weird - in Nazi Germany the postal service had a covert nuclear weapons program.
According to my carrier (she had Rush going on her radio) a lot of the fedex/ups delivery is actually done by USPS.

When I was a kid a friend’s father was a Postal Inspector, and he made them out to be like the Mounties, always get their man.
I do not know about today, back then they were among the very best.
Surprise! Criminal democrat party operatives using government to attack their enemies.
No wonder they have to raise the price of stamps

That was fairly common in my experience
Maybe they’re trying to scare antifa out of firebombing them.
Good men did nothing, evil triumphed
“Why the Postal Service?”
This has something to do with the fact that they have scanner images of every piece of mail you get. I get mine in an email every morning.
As if I don’t have enough to worry about with the Phone Cops.
I’ve been wondering if they would try to weaponize this data, and sure enough they never fail to disappoint.
good to know. thanks
