Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D), who has implemented some of the most stringent coronavirus rules in the country, will soon face a ballot initiative that would effectively strip him of emergency coronavirus powers.

The municipal primary elections are May 18, where voters will face four statewide questions on their ballot, two of which directly relate to the governor’s emergency powers.

Seems to be those two initiatives should be a galvanizing force for a hard core group, if the proposals actually do what they should do.

I suggest that he use his emergency coronavirus powers to disallow such a ballot initiative.

This speaks volumes about the absolute cowardice that is the PA legislature.

Not sure who will turn out but my family will, thanks to independents being allowed to vote in this primary. That's 10 votes against Wolf, and that's a real Plan and not some conspiratorial KooKery.

Hope so and he can’t veto an amendment to the constitution and it doesn’t need 2/3rds. The commie supreme court can change it anytime they want. And this is pretty much already written in law under PA statute title 35(?) but because we have a communist supreme court they wrote their own law and required a 2/3rds vote to end the emergency. Statute says it is already ended.

Since the time of Hurricane Katrina, I have not trusted any elected o-fish-al with any more ‘powers’ than the Constitution allows.

Remember, the government, as an emergency action, broke into the homes of citizens, forcibly arrested them, and confiscated their firearms, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

It’s not the cowardice of the legislature. They’ve passed measures to do this already but the @sshole has vetoed them. The Republicans don’t have enough votes to override the veto.

The title is wrong...the amendments do not strip emergency powers from the
Executive...they just put an expiration date on them. All of Comrade Volfe's
COVID executive orders are unending. The title just perpetuates the Left's
narrative against these initiatives.

No it doesn’t. The legislature voted to force Wolf to end the restrictions numerous times, but under the PA Constitution it takes a 2/3rds vote to override his veto.

The also took a case all the way to the PA Supreme Court which is currently stacked with Soros puppets who were installed in 2015. They rubber stamp everything Wolf does.

So the legislature put forth this Constitutional Amendment to fix the problem for good. This is the only option given the above.

Bingo. I wish people would educate themselves before blindly spouting off proving themselves to be ignorant morons.

Q: Would those Republicans have voted the same way if there were enough votes to override...?

Great question and I have my doubts but it's still the only game in town.

Is that so they can specifically vote for these initiatives?
