Have these people heard of pencils, paper, calculators, telephones etc. or even the concept of redundancy?

Nope. You’re right.

Everything has to be on an app on a cell phone or it doesn’t exist. As a Luddite myself I resent that.

So if this is the test by enemy hackers they are learning a lot and are succeeding. Next maybe water supply, electricity, cell towers, banking system.

I have no evidence to support this idea, except that historically most hacks are caused by someone inside the company not some nefarious hacking group supposedly linked to Russia or some other unfriendly nation....

The type of networking issues I am most familiar with generally all happen when employees inside a company intentionally or by accident...it has not been my experience that major network outages were caused by outside forces...

For example I was contracted to a major wall street bank when another engineer on the team accidentally took down most of the ATMs on the Eastern Seaboard of the USA, the outage was quickly resolved but it created quite the furor....

For Colonial, with all these issues happening I would be looking internally for someone responsible before blaming darknet hackers.....

I feel discriminated against. I can’t afford a cell phone with apps. Target wants me to spend my money on a Smart Phone just to get a break called Circle?

IMO, this hacking, etc is helping the socialist left. Imagine that.

I have had great success with used phones through both Swappa and Gazelle.

Why would I want a used phone? I have a phone. Not an expensive Smart Phone. I can’t believe all the people and little kids with smart phones.

Normally I might agree with you but in this case there were hackers demanding ransom. My first instinct would be that this recent network outage is related to the ransom hackers. Maybe they want more money.

Perhaps one of the members of the hacking group works for Colonial...I could be totally wrong, but nothing surprises me at this point and I tend to look for, what is the easiest way to hack a company...

How about the guy who always keeps to himself and is on his lunch hour reading Chou En-Lai: China's Gray Eminence by Kai-Yu Hsu and eating Xi’an Biang Biang noodles?

Note:Thick, broad, hand-pulled noodles seasoned with chilli, garlic and Sichuan pepper. Spicy Cumin Lamb Biang Biang Noodles are another favorite.

I saw an item today that said Colonial paid $90 million ransom. Now that is retirement money.
