Science evolves unless it is settled.
Science is hypothesis. And hypothesis has to be proved. For instance bending light.
Einstein theorized that gravity could bend light and for about a hundred years we went chasing eclipses for the perfect conditions to photograph this hypothesis.
It took about a hundred years I think, and they finally got the conditions necessary and the equipment and technology in place to observe a solar eclipse and light bending or rather a star was visible which was positioned behind the two objects (sun and moon).
Basic 101 Science courses even explain what hypothesis is in the first chapter or two. And it is something that has to be observed and watched in order to proof that the hypothesis is correct or not.
