Polis appointed 35-year-old Shoshana Lew as his new CDOT Executive Director, a history major with no background in engineering nor construction management.. Shoshana's only qualification is her close relationship to Michelle Obama who called the newly elected governor for a favor - find a job for Shoshana..
Shoshana is an example of how the well connected can use their positions to secure favored treatment in government... She replaced Hickenlooper's appointment of 56-year-old Michael Lewis, an engineer with extensive public construction management experience..
She likes bike lanes, big buses, walking paths, light rail, and electric cars.

Melvin Udall's description hits the nail on the head. Although he wasn't describing government, it is exactly what government is:
NO REASON AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY.

As she is a friend of ‘big mike’ obama, I assume she is black, without looking.

“That’s why they’re passing a ‘gas fee’ instead of a “gas tax” increase. While they’re effectively the same, the term ‘fee’ lets them pass it without putting it on the ballot.”
John Roberts would say it was a tax and he’d be right this time.
“fee for service”
Fees can also be a fixed charge, say for a one-year license.
In Italian, ‘tassa’ means tax and ‘tasso’ means rate.
In the USA, government impositions on fuel are called taxes. Everywhere in the US, the term ‘gas tax’ is used.
