True story:
In 1963 I was in a bar on the strip in Charleston, S.C. and a Brit destroyer was in port, ‘visiting.’
We and the Brits were chumming with each other. Then one American shouted, “Eff the Queen!”
I went silent and was waiting for the brawl to start until one Brit shouted, in his very Brit accent, “You cont get neah the bloody bitch!”
