what they actually did was rule that if the alien entered the country unlawfully then became a protected refugee or asylum receiver, the fact that they entered illegally precludes them from getting a green card. They have to return whence they came and then reapply for the green card and lawfully immigrate.

If the person was a lawful immigrant that obeyed the law to get in the country and received asylum, they could then, at a later date, follow the process of getting a green card and then citizenship according to the law.

Bingo. The Rats could care less about this or any other ruling. I know if I was a Rat this feeble ruling wouldn’t mean squat to my party’s immigration agenda. They aren’t losing a moment’s sleep over it.

"Another law for the Rats to ignore ... "

They'll just assign them a different status to get around it.

A unanimous Supreme Court ruled Monday that thousands of people living in the U.S. for humanitarian reasons are ineligible to apply to become permanent residents.

Justice Elena Kagan wrote for the court that federal immigration law prohibits people who entered the country illegally and now have Temporary Protected Status from seeking “green cards” to remain in the country permanently.

In a rare move, Kagan writes something Constitutional.
