An Illinois school district is under fire after they confiscated a little girl's Bible while she was reading during recess, the American Center for Law and Justice alleges.
"How could this still be happening in America," the ACLJ asked in a statement.
The short answer is because we have a bunch of godless, anti-Christian Democrats leading our nation’s public education system. That’s also the long answer, by the way.
Our public schools have been transformed into godless indoctrination centers for the left – brainwashing our children and filling their minds with anti-Christian and anti-American propaganda.
Just last month a Michigan valedictorian was ordered to remove “God” and “Christ” out of her graduation speech.
And there was yet another Michigan graduate who was told not to talk about her Christian faith during an award’s ceremony.
As I wrote in my latest book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation,” the best course of action is for parents to remove their children from public schools and consider homeschooling. It’s the only way to save the nation.
Anyway, back to this outrageous situation in Illinois.
The ACLJ did not release much information about the incident in Illinois. They declined to provide the name of the school or the city where it happened.
The second grader, named Gabrielle, liked to bring her Bible to school and read it during recess.
Sometimes she reads it aloud, and sometimes other kids listen in and talk with her about what she’s reading," the ACLJ said. "Constitutional crisis? It shouldn’t be; but little Gabrielle had her Bible taken away by a teacher and was told, 'You just can’t be doing that.'"
The school reportedly contacted Gabrielle's parents and told them that their daughter was not allowed to read the Good Book during recess.
"When the parents pushed back, the school backed off a bit – she could read it during outside recess but not during inside recess," the ACLJ reported. "The school confirmed that no student nor any parent of any student had complained about Gabrielle’s reading or even mentioned it."
It was a simple case of public school officials’ hypersensitivity to the specter of a threat from the ACLU or some similar spreader of long-debunked propaganda about “separation of Church and State.”
Instead of threatening the school district with a lawsuit, ACLJ fired off a letter reminding them of a very important Supreme Court case, Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District.
A student may not be prohibited from expressing his or her views on politics or religion unless the school has reason to believe that the speech or expression will “materially and substantially disrupt the work and discipline of the school," the ACLJ noted.
"We’re happy to report that after reviewing our letter, the school thanked us for educating them and removed all restrictions on Gabrielle’s reading," the ACLJ reported.
The American Center for Law and Justice should be commended for their gracious, but firm correspondence with the school district. And Gabrielle's parents should be commended for deciding to take a stand.
That's the only way we are going to root out this hatred and animosity towards Christian students in our nation's public school system.
Let's be honest, had Gabrielle been reading "Rules for Radicals" to her classmates instead of the Holy Bible, she probably would have been given a gold star – and a cookie.
That ruling held that students do not "shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gates." Anyway, back to this outrageous situation in Illinois.
You think it;s FREE, but the indoctrination will be VERY COSTLY to your kids in their future!
Fired she[it] is?
We need a Constitutional Amendment which provides a list of religions. It doesn’t have to be all in-inclusive, but it should clearly state that Atheism is a faith-based worldview and it is a religion and it is protected by the First Amendment against government interference.
But, therefore, by the same token, the government cannot force Atheism on people, by barring Christianity from schools or taking their Bibles. Atheists are currently free to stomp all over religion, using government organizations to crush Faith. That needs to stop. Call Atheism a religion and say that the government cannot promote Atheism.
I support the ACLJ, they are doing a great service to our Country.
This was vicious and mean. Probably scared that little girl out of her wits.
Thankfully that could NEVER happen where I live, otherwise I would NEVER send my kids there.
But others, I guess, have HIGHER PRIORITIES and don’t mind subjecting their kids to those those institutions.
We should confiscate all the copies the Teacher has of Marx!
But the nasty little Hitler is still there, warping children.
Glad that the school backed off, but they should have checked how they are supposed to handle thses things.
They’re too woke.
Not to defend the school district, but there is an outfit (Freedom from Religion Foundation?) that specializes in suing any public agency that allows any Christian expression on its premises. They have deep pockets and most public agencies fold rather than contest a lawsuit their lawyers assure them they’ll lose.
I know they’re active in Illinois. My wife’s home town had to take down a Christmas cross on the water tower because of them. Fighting the lawsuit would have cost more than the village’s budget.
She probably needs it a lot more than the kid does.
The first the school would have heard from me would have my lawyer informing them of a multimillion dollar lawsuit claim.
They probably figured there would be a big conflict between the Bible and the proposed Illinois sex ed curriculum.
And if Gabrielle’s parents had followed the advice of many on this forum, then the push back would have never occurred. This is because Gabrielle would have been schooled at home.
My daughter practices homeschooling. It is probably safer for the kids, but we cannot totally isolate them from the world. Also, the Bible tells us to be “salt”. We cannot perform that function if we withdraw.
So what? Deep pockets are supposed to put us in fear of challenging them?
I don’t think so.
They are my Amazon smile charity.. have been for quite a while.
Yes there is. And there is also solid well settled law at the Supreme court level that says the little girl had an absolute right to read a Bible at recess, pray before lunch, even discuss it privately with friends who ask.
So the existence of the ACLU is a non-excuse.
Every child in the school should bring a Bible to school now. In the whole district.
