Meh. So what? ccept the premise and just give up living now. Not me. AI is good for specifics but there is no idea what AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is and whether an AGI could scale itself any faster than a human.
Artificial intelligence doesn’t frighten me as much as natural stupidity.
Why is “Nobel Winner” a prefix in the headline ? Does that mean you cannot question anything that follows after ?

I never bought the theory that, as in the flying saucer movies of the 1950s-1960s the gentle space aliens were coming here because they were alarmed about nuclear bombs.
I believe they (or the empty ufos which make dead stops, move in one direction, then another, then shoot out of sight——which would splatter any living creature pilot like a raw egg) are merely waiting for the smartphones, video game addictions, ipads, notebooks, laptops and social networking to set up humanity to be replaced someday soon. AI could travel from one solar system to another using wormhole networks.

At the rate human society is degenerating, the apes will be soon be smarter than us.
He’s wrong. Fungi rule the world. 90% of all biomass in forest soil is a fungus. In Agricultural soil it is 50%. Fungi rule the world.
All these doom/gloom articles do not take God in their predictions. I suppose, given how we’ve turn our back on the Almighty, that he could allow AI to destroy his people, but I still have hope!
So MC any if our problems can be alleviated just by leading more godly lives.
I, for one, welcome our artificial intelligence overlords.
They have already trained humans to wear a mask which does absolutely nothing.
Unless the AI can it’s own manufacture power from start to finish and all the machines to do it, it will all eventually just die from the lack of power.
Which is why I plan to find a nice, remote cave in which to live out my twilight years. (I’m only half kidding).
