US Vice President Kamala Harris has urged would-be migrants in Guatemala not to try to enter the United States illegally.
Speaking on her first overseas trip since taking office, she said the journey north was dangerous and would mainly benefit people smugglers.
Ms Harris warned people they would be turned back at the border.
She has been tasked by President Joe Biden with controlling a surge in migration at the southern border.
In a news conference alongside Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, she warned against illegal migration to the US, saying: "Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders."
She added: "If you come to our border, you will be turned back."

It's my understanding that her exact quote was "Do not Come".
If true, good for her. We have immigration laws that have been passed by due process. Those who want to move to the US need to respect and abide by those laws. I suspect many (most?) in Ms. Harris’s party do not believe this. I suggest that they have not done the math. We need immigrants with a good work ethic and a respect for our laws. We have too many people here who do not have either...

She is lying, no one is being turned away, they are being let in and dispersed around the country.
Talk is cheap, especially coming from her.
When Trump said something similar, he was excoriated for weeks on end by the media and Democrats as a racist xenophobe and White Supremacist.
Genius! Why didnt someone think of this earlier? Just tell them not to come. Genius!
