(CNN) - Don’t worry about that shaking in Florida. It’s just a massive military explosion.

An “experimental explosion” triggered by the Navy about 100 miles off Florida’s Atlantic coast registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake Friday.

The blast is known as a “shock trial,” an explosion meant to test a ship’s ability to withstand nearby detonations.

The Navy was testing its new aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford.

You can see videos of this on the Navy's Twitter feed which is linked to the article. I'm a bit surprised the Navy still does this kind of thing. You would think they would be testing the carrier for white privilege or transphobia.

Ability to withstand the hardships of an explosion are apparently proof of both.

Did the ship run back to the harbor and hide and start crafting a NY Times column calling for compromise and unity?

It’s my understand it’s not just a ship, but a new type of aircraft carrier, in fact it’s a entirely new class of aircraft carrier....

I guess the next aircraft carrier built will obviously have a name but it will be referred to as a Ford Class Carrier.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure I read that somewhere.

How much sea life was killed or injured by this divisive testing?

Why is there a U.S.S. Gerald Ford?

He did serve in the Navy.

When I was a young man I was part of a small group that met then Republican leader of the House Gerald Ford.

He was dumb as a rock—had no intelligent answers to any questions, just gave us meaningless cliches.

We now know that Ford was being blackmailed by J Edgar Hoover—apparently the one thing that Ford liked about DC was its overactive night life—and Hoover had lots of pictures of Ford in the raw.....

Swordfish, Tuna, Shark, Whale, “It’s what’s for dinner”.

Wonder how many tons of seafood floated up after?

Sensors detected distant gunfire. Ship immediately went to its “safe space”.

"Why is there a U.S.S. Gerald Ford?"

Because he was All-American Offensive Lineman for Michigan?

No, but it did stumble returning to port.

That seems odd to me. Because if the ship fails the test, it would be damaged, and need expensive repairs. It’s kinda like throwing a rock at a window in your house to see how strong the window is.
