I know Arkansas is paying out $325 for a family of 3, weekly.

How is this more than the earning potential of a regular job ?

What are these regular jobs ? Are people working 2 or 4 part time jobs and only counting the pay of one in the data ?

My lib sister had 4 kids when she was on the state. She made more on the state than she could with a regular job. (Although to her credit she used this time to tirelessly go to night school and get into nursing to support her family)

Still there was no job out there that could provide the food, healthcare and income that welfare could have provided. In 1998 she would have needed to stumble into a $20/hour job to make up for the difference. And that was in CT.

Here in AR I’m not seeing anyone doing well on the PUA or state unemployment. But the healthcare in all these states is equivalent to $2000/month packages. IT covers everything without a copay or deductible. And food can also give a family of 3 about $500 a month in stamps.

This means that in order to get a real job that real job would need to be about $15 an hour - at least. Most new jobs in Ark are paying minimum to $13 an hour.

What I do in Uber pays between 20 and 30 an hour... just delivering food so you don’t even need a great car (or great PDW)

The math doesn’t make sense.

In California it’s $1100/week, tax-free.
