More than 1,000 Afghan soldiers have fled to neighboring Tajikistan after clashing with Taliban militants, officials have said.

The troops retreated over the border to "save their own lives", according to a statement by Tajikistan's border guard.

Violence has risen in Afghanistan and the Taliban have been making significant gains, particularly in the north of the country, in recent weeks.

The surge coincides with the end of NATO's 20-year military mission.

The vast majority of the remaining foreign forces in Afghanistan have been withdrawn early ahead of a September deadline...

Suspect about 20% of the Afghan population will emigrate by the end of 2023. Many to the EU and the US. The Chinese will sign contracts with the Taliban, similiar to the contracts they have made in Africa. China will guarentee that the heroin trade will continue and revenues to the Taliban will be guaranteed. The Chinese will be able to mine whatever they wish without interference and of course will be allowed to estabish their own “security forces” to protect their investments.

Congressman Ron Paul was the Cassandra of American politics. His speeches on the floor of the House in 2002,2003, 2004 predicted chapter and verse what was to happen from the massive American involvement in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The death over over six thousand young Americans, the physical and psychological maiming of tens of thousands more, over $5 trillion squandered, the vile , corrosive Obama administration is the true Bush legacy.

The 20th anniversary of 9/11 will deserve some honest commentary and reflection on what really happened as a result of it.

Thousands killed on 9/11 and the US did that as a result of it...

The real problem unfortunately, is that we are likely to get a bunch of new Afghan neighbors.

Our foreign policy has been utterly disastrous since GHWB became president.. our domestic policy, since Kennedy... maybe even FDR. All hell... it’s all been bad for 70 years.

One can only conclude it’s by design... The outcomes, of which we are living today, had to be known to those who made these decisions.

Ultimately, we will take in millions of Afghan ‘refugees’ over the next several years.

There is little question that a rational, appropriate, severe action was required by the United States. It should always be remembered that Saudi nationals were most of the perpetrators, they were educated and most came from families well connected to the Saudi regime. What is more Saudi government intelligence became aware of the plot, did nothing to stop it and did not inform American security agencies. Also, and this must be emphasised, the Bush administration was well aware of this Saudi perfidy, long before the invasions, bloodshed, nation building fiascos began in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some skeptics of course note that the Bush family became incredibly wealthy doing business with these 9/11 Saudis over the years. It very well may explain the just how and why Bush responded how he did despite the warnings.

The rational appropriate response to 9/11 would have been to bomb Afghanistan flat and invade Saudi Arabia and eradicate the source of the evil.

We could have kept Bagram Air Base and fortified the capital while ceding the rest of the country to the Taliban. Perhaps in generations, the national government would eventually become strong enough to take control of Afghanistan. But it its not meant to be. So Taliban will be jn charge once again.

Because of the bungling before and after WWI, we had no choice but to go into WWII.

Wonder who funds / equips the Taliban? I mean these poor, mostly uneducated dirt dwellers run around sporting fairly sophisticated weaponry. Where are they obtaining arms/ammunition?

Is it the Russians? Chinese? Pakistan? Iran? So we’ve been at war there for 20 years. Which country was running a proxy war against the U.S.?

Never hear about this..wonder why?
