Under what jurisdiction does the Capitol Police operate under when they are not in DC? The governor of Florida should send them packing.

That's also my question. Doesn't their charter restrict their field of operations to the Capitol?

Very few members of Congress are accompanied by security outside of the Capitol building, and it is unclear if the new offices will primarily investigate threats against members or also will help when security is needed in the state. The Capitol Police have jurisdiction to investigate all threats made against a member of Congress.

Apparently, according to them, Florida and CA are the source of these “threats”…? Sorry, but I thought this stuff was the job of the FBI or the Secret Service. I don’t see how they can extend their jurisdiction to any place where somebody grumbles about a Congress critter.

I hope DeSantis just says no way.
