President Joe Biden offered to send a “strike force” into Chicago Thursday in order to help Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) stem the tide of shootings occurring daily in the city.
ABC 7 reports that a “strike force” would focus on gun trafficking.
Lightfoot responded to Biden’s offer by saying, “My hope and expectation is that they’re going to be coming relatively soon. I’ve made not secret of the fact that this is a matter of incredible urgency and I think the president’s plan is to make a difference in localities like Chicago this summer.”
On July 7, 2021, the Chicago Tribune noted that the city has witnessed 2,021 shooting victims this year. That figure represents victims in fatal and non-fatal incidents combined

A bunch of karens to scold the thugs?
I guess “Strike Force” is the word of the week in DC. They were talking about vaccine strike forces too.....
Going to shoot all those white supremacist mofo’s.
The Chicago street gangs are mildly amused.
I think that was the name of a cop show or a war show back in the ‘60s.
He doesn’t care about the victims, he is just tired of us using Chicago as an example of crime run amok.
And just what is this strike force going to do? The first person they have to shoot will result in week long riots.
Trump suggested this but was told by Lightweight to butt out!
Yes, he did, and yes, it was.
Thought so. Lightfoot is demented
Is team Biden backing the thugs?
"Now we need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oftentimes door to door, literally knocking on doors"
It was a short lived 80s show with Robert Stack and Herb Edelman.
I think of it as Most Wanted reincarnated.
Good themes and opens on both shows
If Trump would had proposed this, Lightfoot would have been outraged. One wonders just what a “strike force” would be, what power it would have, and how long it would be there. Is this a prelude to the nationalization of all police, just as the teachers’ unions have effectively nationalized the public schools?
“And just what is this strike force going to do? “
Spend the money of other states’ taxpayers. I’d like to see cities handle their internal problems without my help (except for my city).
Shitcago has long protected it’s criminal elements and the people vote time and again for those same politicians who protect them. They deserve everything they get at this point.
They don’t need a “strike force.” Although, I realize this isn’t about gun crime or saving lives, it’s about making a political statement. What the strike force would do is go after small gun businesses, FFL’s (the licensed people and companies through whom legal gun sales are conducted) and, probably the banks who finance those companies and individuals. If they just do that, the government would build it up as a “win.” But deaths would not decline. Statistics indicate that as you reduce the number of legally owned guns that gun deaths increase, not decrease.
The FBI’s current stats and those of the Chicago police will probably give you all the real targets you need. Or, at least they will say who should not be a target; people complying with the law. I’d guess that a large percentage of guns used in violent crime are not purchased through legal means. They are not AR-15’s. They are pistols and are known as “drop guns.” They are guns that are cheap and disposable. Those that aren’t cheap and therefore “keepers” are mostly stolen and then resold in bars and back streets for cash or drugs. Another class will be Argentine or Chinese knockoffs of mainstream brands like Colt or Glock. It’s impossible to cut off the supply of such weapons because they do not come through some main commercial artery. They seep in through hundreds of sources. They are stolen and find their way to high volume markets like Chicago and Detroit by passing through lots of dirty hands; none of whom comply with the existing laws.
