Isn’t that strange? I found a couple of websites with her “biography” but no school is mentioned.
See post #20. Apparently EVERY OTHER media outlet considered it uninteresting and irrelevant that she’s home schooled.
Is that it? Or could it be that her story doesn’t fit The Narrative?
Where is the equity in having a champion? Shouldn’t all 1,342 entrants be declared co-champions?
Art Deco maybe, or how about Art Vandelay?
Surnames such as Carpenter, Baumgartner, Cooper, Shoemaker, Carter, Chandler, Miller, and Smith all derived from occupations. Or Barton, Beck, Belmont, Bergman, Blumenthal, Forest, Frank, Green which came from the location where the person lived.
Why not a surname from a music genre?
Just don’t get me started on African American first names.
Good points. They want to hide the fact that she’s home-schooled, which is usually considered a conservative practice.
That competition is mind-numbing lol. Hats off to all those kids, especially the ones who misspell words they figure they should’ve won. At the national level, all the kids have already won a regional. So to get there, you’ve already gone two days of competition without misspelling any words. The winner has an unblemished record, perfect spelling over several days of competitive spelling, so of course big congrats there!
Congratulations to this young lady. Kudos.
The origins of last names is a surprising subject. Many people don’t know that some places didn’t have last names until the 19th century when governments forced them into it.
I have relatives that didn’t have a last name until a clerk at Ellis Island invented one to put on his paper-work.
Avant-garde is a pretty nice last name. I like it. Congratulations to a smart little girl.
The article cares more about her being African American than her success. They don’t say it, but they are just hoping that the reader will think that the girl overcame massive racism, hate and opposition to reach her goal.
The girl won by studying her English, and not by blaming any failure on Whitey.
Becuase you cant spell!! Good greif!
What about Hooker?
Truly remarkable girl. Not only did she win the spelling bee, she’s also an extraordinary basketball player/gymnast. Last night Fox News had a clip of her dribbling four basketballs while simultaneously bouncing around on a pogo stick. At her age I once tied just to use a pogo stick and fell off immediately while banging myself in the face with the fool thing. I’ve also never been able to dribble a basketball properly.
Yeh, that’s right! Hooker Headers! Auto parts!
Sounds like the runner-up was also a black female.
Anyway he'll probably utter something to the cameras along the lines of: "Hey, you're a big girl now, prolly get lot's of action, right?. You should be proud - just shows ya... Black folks can be as smart as real people sometimes."
The press will coo: "He brings so much dignity to the Oval Office."
I like it as a last name, too.
At 14, it would be awkward for gropey to ask “What are you? 14?”
Well, Dad is weird. Maybe her mama, too, for marrying him. She should be glad he didn’t change it to a symbol.
Congrats to her despite the msm congratulating her skin color.
