First reports are extreme pitch-up on takeoff. That would result in a stall.

There is not enough information as to why but it could be pilot commanded pitch-up, incapacitated pilot, incorrect GC or trim setting, elevator uncommanded input, wake vortex or weather related.

Thanks - but STOL’s are designed for extreme pitch on take-off, right? Of course, whatever the max pitch is, there is the design limit - which this experienced pilot would surely not exceed - it seems to me.

We all know that all planes stall with too little airspeed from extreme pitch. But I think he’d been flying this plane for some time.

Doesn’t make sense to me.....
