Federal gasoline excise taxes: totals to 40.4 cents per gallon ( not per mile). Plus state and local taxes.

I can’t wait to find out about all the other Easter eggs in this bill, let alone the budget reconciliation bill.

Whatever they come up with will 1) be in addition to the current gas tax which will never go away 2) designed to inflict pain on rural people.

Gas taxes are already a by-the-mile tax system - the more miles you drive, the more gas you burn, the more gas tax you pay.

Whether charging high prices for miles traveled, or charging high prices for fuel, or forcing people to electric vehicles...

the end result will be, for certain...

the death of the economy, and the death of the U.S. as a world power, and massive poverty within the U.S. and around the world.

The US constitution guarantees each citizen the right to move freely among the states. If a poll tax violates a voting right, then a per mile tax surely violates the right to freedom of movement.

"If this takes some people off the road, it may not be too bad."

The people who need to be taken off the road are the people who will laugh at paying to drive, and the Government will leave them alone. Law abiding people will suffer. And of course, Government employees driving Government vehicles will be exempt.

If its gonna be too expensive to drive, then why do we need billions for roads and bridges?

Buried in the measure is a pilot program for a national motor vehicle per-mile user fee (MBUF) which is basically a long-term plan to make it too expensive to drive a car.

It is also necessary to capture highway tax revenue from electric vehicles that do not purchase fuel.

The alternative would be to turn the entire Interstate system into a toll road. Would you rather drive around with an EZ Pass attached to your windshield?

And there is the end times. Make life too expensive to live and survive. Make fuel and heating oil too expensive to buy to keeeople warm with, make people so desperate to survive that they come running to,big government for a ‘passport’ to use for purchasing, and a credit system whereby the creditor becomes essentially a slave master

Supposeldy, Back when they had poor farmers/sharecroppers work land for rich owners, the owners would pay workers for what they brought In, but not very much, just enough to buy for enough to get buy on, but the food had to be bought fro the farmer’s own store at massively inflated values, so often the farmers were in dept to,the owners, and had to keep working the land in an unachievable attempt to pay it back.

It was a vicious circle.

Seems we are heading right back into such a system. Here we ,I’ve in one of the greatest nations on earth, if not the greatest, and the left couldn’t stand it. They just had to keep hammering awY till everything became so crappy that noone can cope and afford to work and earn a decent living anymore.

Liberals are Thoroughly miserable whenever anyone but them has a good time

“Or force you into an electric vehicle.”

EV’s are not exempted under this proposal.

Btw we are already paying a “mileage tax” in the form of the taxes on gasoline.

The time has come....
The time is now...
We have to make a choice...
Overcome... Or submit

Are you a republican..
Or are you a freedom loving patriot..

There is no middle ground...

Make your choice... and proclaim it loud
