Judge grants injunction against Gov. Stitt’s order to end extended federal unemployment benefits, orders Stitt to reinstate benefit program

An Oklahoma County judge granted a preliminary injunction filed against Gov. Kevin Stitt, ordering him to reinstate the extension on the weekly $300 CARES Act federal unemployment benefits that he ended.

Oklahoma County District Judge Anthony Bonner Jr. made the decision Friday in response to a lawsuit filed by Oklahomans against the state for ending the federal unemployment benefits early. Brendan McHugh, co-council for the petitioners, argued that some 74,000 Oklahomans are still relying on the extra $300 a week.

Stitt said in May the added federal benefits were disincentivizing people from working. He announced federal benefits would end three months early, while also offering a $1,200 back-to-work incentive.

How does a county judge have that authority?

What’s with these judges?

It’s not his job or business to do this.

We’re no longer a republic.

Deep State says what’s legal and what’s not.

Send the judge the bill. Let the judge pay.

Like Obama enforced the Defense of Marriage Act, and Joe Biden protects the border. Stitt should just say: “Well, heck I tried, but we just couldn’t follow the order. We will someday, unless the program ends first.”

The Biden administration summarily ignored the US Supreme Court ruling the CDC can’t issue rental moratoriums. Why can’t this Governor do the same. We aren’t having our freedom taken, we are absolutely giving them away.

Same thing happened in Maryland. Our admittedly lousy governor did the right thing by stopping the federal stipend on July 3. The Union of Unemployed Workers (!) sued on behalf of two indigents who claimed they still needed the stipend. The judge agreed.

Does a County judge have authority over a Governor of a State?

People’s circumstances, no matter how dire, are not enumerations of power to Congress to try to meet their needs.

Could also be “welcome” on the left and “abandon all hope” on the Republican side.

The governor should burst out laughing. Then fire the judge via executive order. It would be no greater an abuse of power than what the judge is doing.

A county judge ordering the governor what to do.

That’s funny anywhere.
