Been in Costa Rica since May and the whites are coming here. Met 2 groups of ex-pats and they are loving it, a good number of tourists are planning on moving here. Feels like America in the 40s much simpler, lot less goods at the store but definitely everything you need. Very comfortable climate. DFW flight is 4 hours.
Side note - everyone is super laid back, when they honk their horn it is to say hello, always.

It’s been a long time ago but were I worked a supervisor retired.
He bought a place in Mexico and spent the winters there and came
back to USA for summer. He just liked hot weather and could afford
the process. Cost of living was next to nothing down there then.
